Petition to LPF union leader for salary hike in Valparai

Petition to LPF union leader Kozhikadai Ganesan to take immediate take action to pay Rs. 426 salary to tea plantation workers.


Coimbatore: Tea is cultivated in an area of about 50,000 acres in Valparai, Coimbatore district. There are, over 30,000 workers employed in the estates.

Their wage agreement expired last June and the new contract is not inked. Government of Tamil Nadu Minimum Wage for Tea Plantation Workers. Rs 425.40 is announced.

Against the backdrop of this, Kozhikadai Ganesan LPF trade union leader and former city council chairman Kozhikadai Ganesan met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader MK Stalin in person at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai and petitioned him to take immediate action to implement the minimum wage announced by the government for tea plantation workers.

Kozhikadai Ganesan, former Valparai city council chairman and Anaimalai Dravida Workers' Progressive Union president was present at the event. Valparai GKM Magudeeswaran, Coimbatore South District Youth Deputy Organizer. Adi Dravidar Welfare Committee Deputy Organizer Vadai Kadai Kutty was also present.
