People dislike the state government; Hindu Munnani state president Kadeswara Subramaniam

The campaign was held at the Koniamman Temple in Coimbatore. Following this, Hindu leaders staged a protest in Coimbatore, portraying Charity Minister Sekarbabu as stealing temple jewellery.

Coimbatore: A campaign march on behalf of the Hindu Munnani to all the major temples in Tamil Nadu is initiated on the 16th in Coimbatore urging the Tamil Nadu government to immediately abandon its plan to smelt gold jewellery in the temple.

The campaign was held at the Koniamman Temple in Coimbatore. Following this, Hindu leaders staged a protest in Coimbatore, portraying Charity Minister Sekarbabu as stealing temple jewellery.

At the Coimbatore Koniamman Temple Former Hindu Munnani state leader Kadeswara Subramaniam led the protest against the DMK government's attempt to turn temple jewellery into gold nuggets.

The commotion was sparked by a sit-in protest portraying the DMK minister Sekarbabu as if he was stealing a gold necklace from a statue of the goddess adorned in a vehicle in front of the temple.

Kadeswara Subramaniam says, "An atheistic government without faith in God is ruling Tamil Nadu. The government has announced that jewellery found only in Hindu temples should be melted down and made into gold. Condemning this, a pilgrimage campaign will be held for seven days starting from the 16th in Chennai and in the main temples in all the districts. As part the campaign, a protest was held in Coimbatore. Devotees are welcome everywhere.”

“The government has no rights to melt temple jewellery. There is no accounting for the existence of jewellery for 60 years. The jewellery offered by the devotees should be used for the respective temple. A government commission was set up to investigate the DMK's involvement. The government might spin stories of missing gold. Hindu temples were smashed in Bangladesh and more than 10 Hindus died. The riots continue and the central government should take immediate action against rioters who are infiltrating areas of Coimbatore and Tirupur. They are likely to cause riots and they may even join Naxalites and still people are rooting for this government."
