Immunity against Covid-19 amongst public has spiked: Health officials inform

According to health officials, blood samples were taken from individuals from specific areas by the public health department to diagnose the spread of coronavirus infection among the general public in Tamil Nadu. The first phase of the study was conducted in November 2020, the second phase in April 2021 and the third phase last August.


Coimbatore: A study in the Coimbatore district has brought to light that 71 per cent of people were infected with the coronavirus.

According to health officials, blood samples were taken from specific areas by the public health department to understand the spread of coronavirus infection among the general public in Tamil Nadu. The first phase of the study was conducted in November 2020, the second phase in April 2021 and the third phase last August.

Of these, only 37 per cent in Erode and 43 per cent in Coimbatore had the lowest incidence of coronavirus infection in the state.

As part of the study, samples were collected from the first 5 districts with the highest number of infections and from the last 5 districts with the lowest number of infections. Last September, the samples were tested for the rate of infection. Of these, 71 per cent are diagnosed with the virus in Coimbatore district.
