Loads of medical wastes dumped in empty housing plots in the Settipalayam-Palladamregion in Coimbatore have been sending disease threats to the public in the region. Used syringes, injections lay in open spaces which might injure the public and the animals walking through the region. The locals state that this has become habitual as they find wastes dumped regularly y unknown persons during nighttime. Animals, which come to the place in search of food, tend to eat those wastes dumped, which will also spread infectious diseases to both humans and the animals consuming them.
The locals demand to arrest those truck drivers and owners, who dispose of the waste in an improper manner and charge them under the Goondas Act.Social activists have also requested to form special squads to identify those improperly disposing of medical wastes especially in the outskirts of the city.
