Coimbatore: Minister of Forests Ramachandran inaugurated the cleaning work camp conducted on behalf of the Corporation in the Saibaba Colony area of Coimbatore.

Speaking to the reporters he said, "The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has been giving various schemes to the people of Tamil Nadu on a daily basis to the extent that the Opposition cannot blame us. The government has accepted the tuition fees of students studying in government schools with a reservation of 7.5 per cent. This government has been carrying out the cleaning work on the basis that we will protect the whole of Tamil Nadu from yesterday for five days.

In Coimbatore, 36.12 km is to be cleaned in 100 wards. During the rainy season the water has to drain without stagnation. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has ordered a mega task of preventing rain water and flood water stagnation to prevent spread of dengue. Apart from this, millions of people have benefited by seeking medical treatment. Journalists, the 4th pillar of democracy, must take the government's plans to the people. People are now becoming more aware of the vaccine."

He added, "The Chief Minister has written a letter to the Prime Minister asking him to provide 50 lakh vaccines a week to Tamil Nadu. 50 lakh people a week can be vaccinated even faster if the vaccine is allocated, and funds will be allocated after March for a project to put concrete on forest boundaries. If the concrete retaining wall is put up, the elephants, pigs, and deer will not be able to cross it. An investigation is underway into the death of a tiger in Coimbatore district. The carcass has been sent to the hospital and the cause of death would be known as soon as the results of the study were available."
