Mega Sanitation Camp inaugurated in Coimbatore by Forest Minister K.Ramachandran

5 zones with 100 wards to be cleaned in the mega camp, the minister also distributed medical kits on behalf of Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme


Coimbatore: Minister Of Forests, K.Ramachandran inaugurated the Mega sanitation Camp in Coimbatore on Tuesday.



In the event headed by Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, Raja Gopal Sunkara, medical kits were distributed to the public on behalf of the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K.Stalin announced a prodigious sanitation camp in the state, to be held from the 20th to 26th September. The first camp was inaugurated yesterday in Tirupur, while the next has been kick-started today in the Saibaba Colony Ammasai Konar Street, Coimbatore. He stated that 100 wards in 5 zones in Coimbatore, about 36.12 km to be cleaned during the camp. About 600 meters of rainwater drainage canals will be completely cleared in Saibaba Colony, KK Pudur area in ward 11. This clears stagnant water and avoids mosquito breeding.

The Mega Sanitation camp shall be held in all the corporations, Municipalities, village panchayats in Tamil Nadu

The Minister later while speaking to the press, stated that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has introduced various schemes for the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu from all walks of life.



He said, “The Hon'ble Chief Minister has announced a that the Tuition and Hostel fee in Government schools shall be provided free under the Vocational education Discount. Also, steps are being taken to avoid further damage due to the monsoon rains.”



Further speaking of the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme, he emphasized that 599167 people have benefited through the scheme who suffer from ailments, big or small in Tamil Nadu: 263361 with blood pressure, 174855 with diabetes, 121233 with side effects. In Coimbatore, 7775 with Blood Pressure, 3270 with diabetes, and 3706 with both diseases benefited through the scheme. 2550 persons with blood pressure, 1456 with diabetes, 1767 persons with both, and 3 with kidney-related disease have benefited in Coimbatore corporation.' He later distributed medicine kits to the public.

Engineer A. Lakshmanan, Urban Welfare Officer Satish Kumara, Assistant Urban Welfare Officer Vasanth Divakar, Zonal Assistant Commissioner Mr. Sivasubramaniam, Executive Engineer Parvathi, Assistant Executive Engineers, Regional Health Officers, Health Inspectors, Staff Officers, and Corporation officials were present at the event.
