Four towns named in Coimbatore among the list of 29 town panchayats across TN
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu State Government identified 29 town panchayats all across the state to be upgraded into municipalities.
On account of the process, during the grants demand session in the Assembly held on August 24, for the financial year 2021-22, four town panchayats from Coimbatore district were named for upgradation into municipalities. Karumathampatti, Gudalur, Karamadai and Madukkarai were the towns identified and a consultative meeting was scheduled on September 14, 2021.
In the meeting held at the District Collectorate, opinions, ideas and demands were discussed. The ex-Councillors of the above four regions, politicians, village administrators and the public attended the consultative meeting chaired by the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran.
It is to be noted that adding 29 town panchayats to municipalities,the total number of municipalities in Tamil Nadu account for 150.
