CCMC Commissioner insists that pig farmers comply with the order within 15 days since pig raising poses a risk to public health.
Coimbatore: Native pigs are being raised in various places under Coimbatore Corporation which is allegedly causing a huge risk to public health. Hence raising pigs in areas under the Corporation is prohibited, as per the Coimbatore Corporation Council Order No. 325 dated 27.03.2000.
Therefore, CCMC Commissioner and Special Officer, Raja Gopal Sunkara has ordered pig farmers to immediately round up pigs that are roaming in public places and dispose of them within 15 days since it was a matter of risk to public health. He warned that failure to comply will result in stern action being taken against the pig farmers.
