A statue of the Vetri Vinayagar has been erected in the Rakkachi Garden area of Manikarampalayam, Coimbatore on behalf of the Coimbatore BJP and the Hindu Munnani.
Coimbatore: As Vinayagar Chaturthi festival is being celebrated today, the Coimbatore Bharatiya Janata Party and the Hindu Munnani jointly worshiped Vinayagar at the Rakachchi Garden in Manikarampalayam, Coimbatore.
Due to the spread of the coronavirus the Tamil Nadu government has imposed various restrictions on the celebration of Vinayagar Chaturthi. In particular, it is forbidden to place a statue of Vinayagar in public places. It has been reported that if the statue is placed in violation of the ban, the statue will be disposed of with police protection and handed over to the Hindu Temple Department.

In the area, a large crowd of devotees, both men and women, flocked to see Vinayagar from early morning. Following this, special anointing pujas were held for the Vinayagar idol. It has been reported that donations will be given to the poor people this afternoonand then in an hour the statue will be taken in procession and dissolved in the pond.
The event was chaired by BJP Economic Division Regional Secretary Loganathan. Siva, Abhimanyu, Ramkumar, Suresh, Subhash, Keerthi. Hindu Munnani executives and members including Ramkumar were present.
