Maoist Veeramani booked under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act

Coimbatore City Police register a case against Veeramani who was out on conditional bail under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 1967 after monitoring frequent links to the Maoist movement.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Police have registered a case against Coimbatore Maoist Veeramani under the Unlawful Activities (UAPA) Prevention Act.

Five Maoists were arrested by the Q Division police in 2015 as he was plotting illegal activities near Karumathampatti in Coimbatore.

One of them is Veeramani (23) from Cuddalore. He was then released on conditional bail in 2020. Meanwhile, Veeramani had lodged a complaint with the District Collector in 2020 alleging that the police were harassing him and that tehy continued to harass him wherever he went.

Coimbatore City Police have registered a case against Veeramani under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 1967, who was constantly monitored for her links to the Maoist movement.
