Manimandapam for Ethalappar who fought against British in Thirumurthy hills

Coimbatore: The people of the Thali area are happy with the announcement of the Tamil Nadu Government of building Manimandapam for Ethalappar. The Tamil Nadu Government has announced that the Manimandapam will be built in the Thirumurthy Hill area for the Ethalappar who fought for the native people in the South Kongu country in protest against the British East India Company. The people of the area welcomed this and offered sweets and expressed their happiness. Ethalappar, who was a settler in the Thali camp, embraced the oppressed and tribal people who lived in his area.



He has been in touch with Tipu Sultan, Deeran and with Chinnamalai freedom fighters. He is said to have been a brave king who hanged a messenger from the East India Company. He ruled the region in the 1800s. A close relative of Veerapandiya Kattabomman, there are various heroic deeds he did. So the request was made for a long time to build a Manimandapam. They welcomed the move of the Tamil Nadu government who today ordered to build a manimandapam for Ethalappar on Thirumurthy hills.
