16 domestic flights departed from Coimbatore International Airport on a single day, September 7


Coimbatore: The pandemic outbreak had put a halt on both domestic and international flights at Coimbatore Airport.

With the second wave dying down and flights resuming, the Coimbatore International Airport has also bounced back with a rise in passenger footfall and more flight services becoming operational.

16 domestic flights have departed on Tuesday, September 7 from the airport. Only 11 flights were operated in July and 15 in August. ‘Go Air’ and 'Spice Jet' had temporarily stopped services due to Covid outbreak but have now resumed their flights.

“Even as flight movement between Coimbatore and Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai along with international flight movements between Coimbatore and Sharjah resumed, 16 flights were operated in a single day on September 7, Tuesday. 12 IndiGo Airline flights, 2 Air India flights, one 'Go Air' flight and a Spice Jet flight resumed operations today and departed from Coimbatore," stated airport authorities.
