Essential shops to continue functioning in Coimbatore on weekends

District Collector Sameeran imposed additional restrictions


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector Sameeran had issued a new set of guidelines effective from the 1st of September until the 15th. According to the restrictions, only the essential shops like pharmacies, vegetable markets, and milk vendors shall function.

Certain areas in the city, especially, Crosscut Road, 100 ft Road, Oppanakara Street, Ramamoorthy Road, Saramedu Road (Royal Nagar Junction), Rice Mill Road, NP Iteri Road, Singanallur Signal to Ondipudur Flyover (Trichy Road), Hope College Signal Shops (Avinashi Road), Kalapatti Road (Nehru Nagar), DP Road, Thiruvenkatasamy Road, NSR Road, Arogya Samy Road (East, West Shops), Saravanampatti Junction, Ganapathi Junction, GanapathiTudiyalur Junction Market Shops, Peelamedu Bread Shop Ground Shops, Gandhimanagar Junction, Awarampalayam Junction, Bharathi Nagar (Ganapathi), Papanayakenpalayam Junction, Raja Road, Periya Kadai Road, Variety Hall Road, N.S.Road, Idayar street Vaishyal street, Thomas Street, Sukravarapet, Marakadai, Range Gowder Road, Gandhipuram (1 to 11 streets) and Sullivan Streets are prone to the pandemic as they seem crowded most times.All shops except for dispensaries, grocery stores, and vegetable shops are banned from operating on Saturdays and Sundays.

Similarly, all jewelry shops and textiles are prohibited from operating on Saturdays and Sundays. All restaurants and bakeries in the district are allowed to run from 6 am to 6 pm with 50 % customers. and parcel services from 6 pm to 10 pm.

Earlier, bakeries and restaurants were allowed to function until 8 pm.
