The robber had been observing residences for long time and involved in burglaries
Coimbatore: Day-time burglaries in Periyanayakkampalayam was reported in high number in recent days.
DIG Muthusamy, SP Selvanagaratnam devised special squads in the area to put a stop to the robbery.
Two teams led by Sub- Inspectors Selvanayagam and Damodaranwere on the search for the culprit, while a complaint was filed after an unidentified person snatched money from a by-passer in Mettupalayam.
The special squad caught hold of Santhosh Kumar (28) upon suspicion when they were in search at the Annur Road. Upon further investigation, it was found that the accused has been involving in a series of burglaries in Periyanayakampalayam area, Mettupalayam.
Around 6 cases have been filed already on him under various jurisdictions of police stations.
The police arrested him and seized 24 sovereigns of gold jewelry, ₹.1,000, a knife, and a pulsar bike from him and produced him before the court
Mettupalayam Inspector of Police Shanmugam requested the public to inform the cops if they were leaving the house and to install CCTV cameras that would come handy in such situations.
