Vehicle used for Solid Waste Management Project in Valparai at risk of rusting

Public allege municipality for not maintaining vehicles which were bought in 2019.

Coimbatore: In Valparai, Coimbatore district, in the year 2019, new three wheelers, tractors and lorries were procured and used for some time to separate the compostable garbage into non-compostable garbage.

Later those new vehicles were put on hold without being implemented and now the vehicles purchased for several lakhs of rupees are three wheelers in rusty condition.

The Valparai municipality administration allegedly did not maintain the vehicles and they were left for rusting. Community activists and the general public have called on the municipality administration to immediately auction off rusty vehicles and add them to municipality revenue.
