Coimbatore: The public has demanded that the hospital management take action to collect and safely dispose of medical waste that is disposed in open in Pollachi District Government General Hospital.The Pollachi District Government General Hospital receives thousands of visitors daily from Pollachi, Valparai and Anaimalai. Hundreds more have been admitted as inpatients for various treatments, including coronavirus patients.

The medical wastes with blood clots that are discarded after operation are disposed at the hospital near the anatomy building on the hospital premises, as well as the syringes used for the patients and the wastes used for the anatomical examination were all dumped in the open on the hospital premises. The place also poses a threat for health problems as human medical waste is dumped here and there. The stench also puts patients who come to the hospital at risk of further infection. The public has demanded that the hospital management take action to collect and safely dispose of medical waste.
