Multipurpose Health Workers Course graduates urge Govt. to step in to initiate recruitment process

Students of the 2018-20 batch who have successfully completed the Multipurpose Health Workers Course are reportedly still jobless due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Coimbatore: Despite innumerable vacancies available in PHCs, students who completed the Multipurpose Health Workers Course are still jobless due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The batch of 2018-20 had over 2000 students graduating the course provided at as many as 48 institutions aided by the Government. A student stated that most of them had worked as intern practitioners which are essential for the completion of the course and they find the reason unclear for not receiving jobs yet.

The students have requested the State Government to initiate the process of recruitment for the respective positions in the public sector and consider filling the vacancies of Health Inspector (Grade-II). There are 334 Health Inspectors (Grade-II) permanent posts vacant and 1,049 temporary posts of Health Inspector (Grade-II) vacant and there has been no recruitment since 2014.

Thus, the students have urged the Government to formulate a policy on paper that can pave the way for them to seek employment in the private sector as a Health Inspector (Grade-II).
