300 kgs of tobacco, 30 litres of alcohol confiscated in Coimbatore; 29 arrested

29 arrested after police conduct raids across the city of Coimbatore


Coimbatore: The police department has confiscated 3000 packets of tobacco in Coimbatore and 29 were arrested on Tuesday. 15 police stations maintain the law and order in the city. The police raided the entire city on Tuesday and seized 30 kgs of tobacco from areas like R S Puram, Race Course, Pothanur, Ukkadam, Kuniyamuthur.

29 people were arrested for selling tobacco (300 kg) which is banned in the city. The police also confiscated 30 litres of liquor which was illegally sold in Singanallur and Saravanampatty areas.
