Coimbatore: Kumbhabishekam of the renovated Siddhi Vinayagar Temple at Govindapuram near Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore District was held on Wednesday morning. 'Vinayagar Tiruvedi Ula Theerthakudam' and the 'Mulaipari' procession was held on Tuesday.



Following this, the first puja was held in the decorated Yagashala under the head of Perur Adheenam Marudasala Adigalar according to the Shivacharya Tamil custom. Then the sacred urn was placed in the tower and the statue of Ganesha was placed in the sanctorum of the temple. The second part of the festivities was held this morning with holy water being taken to the Ramar temple to perform the 'Thirukuda Nannirattu.'

The main event was the consecration of the sacred urn in the tower of the Ganesha temple with the holy water placed in the urn with holy scriptures, and poured into the tower in the presence of all devotees. The Kumbhabishekam was done by pouring holy water on the Ganesha idol in the sanctorum. Then, Abhishekams were performed for Vinayagar who had been specially adorned and a special puja was performed.



Annadhanam was distributed to the devotees at the ceremony. A large number of devotees attended this Kumbhabhishekam festival. Arrangements for the ceremony were made by the locals led by the Govindapuram Panchayat President Shanmugam.
