VAO arrested for demanding bribe for patta transfer in Coimbatore

Anti-Corruption Dept. officials nab VAO red-handed while receiving the demanded bribe from complainant


Coimbatore: Balraj hailing from Idikarai approached Vellanaipatti's Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Kumar (40) for patta transfer which had been denied to him several times.

The VAO reportedly demanded an amount of Rs.3,500 to take up the task of granting patta transfer. Balraj immediately informed the anti-corruption department which secretly monitored the VAO. He was caught red-handed while receiving the demanded bribe from Balraj.

VAO Kumar had earlier served as the VAO of Blichi and resides in Ganapati. It has been just 15 days since he took charge as VAO in Vellanaipatty.
