The kidnappers have threatened the victims not to get help from police department.
Tiruppur: Sivapradeep, son of Easwarramurthy of Kavundampalayam, Kangeyam was kidnapped last evening. The kidnapper demanded 3 crore as ransom and threatened Easwarramurthy not to go to cops for help.
Scared, Easwarramurthy rescued his son paying the demanded amount and filed a complaint at the Kangeyam Police Station.
Upon the complaint, the police department of Tiruppur have arrested Sakthivel, Augustine, Balaji, Basir. An amount of 1 crore 89 lakh 94 thousand was obtained from them.
West Zone IG Sudhakar spoke to the media on this. He stated that “Easwaramurthy handed o er the ransom amount at Dindugal, rescued his son and filed the complaint by 8.30 in the night.”
8 special squads were deployed and the suspects were under arrest within 6 hours of complaint given. 3 were arrested in Madurai and 1 in Krishnagiri.
Interrogations are going on and he stated that the CCTV along the way they travelled came off as big help to trace the kidnappers. The vehicle was found with check post CCTV and Adyar Ananda Bhavan CCTV in Sirumalai area.
“A three-hour difference was there between us and the culprits. However, extra efforts of the special squad helped us immensely in the advent.”
Two of the culprits work as crane operators and they somehow eavesdropped about Easwaramurthy’s wealth. That led to kidnapping his son.
The kidnappers watched Sivapradeep closely for over a week and have kidnapped him disguising as police officers.
He finally stated that, none shall discuss in public about their wealth or property, to avoid such things from happening.
Coimbatore Range DIG Muthusamy and Tiruppur District Superintendent of Police Shasang Sai were also present.
