Petition filed with the Coimbatore District Collector seeking cancellation of the falsely registered PCR case and action against those who made false complaints.

Coimbatore: A petition has been filed with the Coimbatore District Collector seeking cancellation of the falsely registered PCR case and action against those who made false complaints.

Sivakumar has filed this petition and copies of the petition have also been sent to the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police and the Coimbatore West Zone Police Chief.

Gopalsamy, a farmer in Annur Ottarpalayam village visited the VAO office for a patta change. It was alleged that Gopalsamy had attacked P Muthusamy, who was the Village Administrative Officer, V Kalaiselvi's assistant and verbally abused him because of the assistant belonged to a supposedly lower caste.

The Annur police have registered a case alleging that the VAO's assistant had falsely informed the investigating officers that he had to apologize by falling on Gopalsamy's feet because he belonged to a backward community, though he was a Government official. The complaint alleges that the photo journalist had assisted the VAO and her assistant by publishing false information.

The petition stated that both Government officials had used their backward status to their advantage. The petiton filed condemned this and highlighted that such actions on part of officials greatly affects others in the society and it was not acceptable. Such behaviour has instigated clashes between communities. Hence, the petitioner urged legal action against the VAO, her assistant and the journalist who assisted in making a false complaint.
