Theater owners in Pollachi demand concession in electricity tariff to theaters in Tamil Nadu like given in neighboring states

Tamil Nadu Farmers Association Consultative Meeting was held at Kottur near Pollachi: Coimbatore Tirupur District Farmers participates

Coimbatore: After being hit by the second wave of coronavirus the Tamil Nadu government has announced relaxation of curfew from today.

Accordingly, theaters are allowed to open with 50% of the audience. Following this, the owners are getting ready to open theaters in Pollachi and surrounding areas of Coimbatore district.

Theater owners said the theaters have been facing various difficulties for the last two months due to non-functioning of the theaters. 8% tax is levied on behalf of the local administration and electricity is also being charged in the absence of revenue.

They therefore demanded that concessions be made in electricity and municipality taxes as in the neighboring states. The theater owners also said that they would abide by all the rules imposed by the Tamil Nadu government to prevent the spread of the disease.
