Coimbatore: In the Ramapattinampirivu near Pollachi, a man climbed a tree near the old police check post yesterdayand threatened to jump down. Following this, the people of the area informed the Pollachi Fire Department.
Pollachi Fire Station Officer Purushothaman led fire officials to the scene. Authorities then negotiated with the man who climbed the tree, and made efforts to rescue him. With the help of the public, firefighters were spreading the net under a tree.
At the same time 2 firefighters climbed the tree and tied the rope to the old man. The investigation revealed that he was Durayan (55) from the same area and that he was suffering from mental illness. Following this, he was rescued and taken to Pollachi Government Hospital.
