Police investigate 5 people including two minors for assaulting bakery staff in Coimbatore; Rs. 80,000 worth items damaged
Coimbatore: Peelamedu police have arrested five people, including two minor boys, for assaulting two employees of a bakery and damaging goods. Based on evidence from CCTV footage and complaint from the bakery staff, the police have rounded up the assaulters and investigating.
According to police reports, five people including two minor boys ventured into Maharaja Bakery near Suguna Wedding Hall on Avinashi Road, Coimbatore. The gang of five who were in an inebriated state had asked for soft drinks and later refused to pay money.
They gang entered into a verbal war with the cashier Selvindurai (24) and Manikandan (22) supplier at the bakery. They further assaulted them using a punching machine and engaged in smashing the items in the bakery.
The duo who were injured lodged a complaint at the Peelamedu police station. They were later shifted to Coimbatore GH for treatment. The Police arrived at the scene and scrutinised the CCTV footage retieved from the bakery.
Initial investigations revealed that the persons who were in the assault belonged to the Sowripalayam area, here. Police have arrested 5 people, including two boys, and are investigating. The incident caused a stir in the Peelamedu area.
