Malayalee community celebrates Onam today



Coimbatore: Onam, the main festival of the Malayalee community and it is celebrated for 10 days starting from Astham Nakshatra Day in the month of Adi month.

It is customary to make floral patterns in front of the house every day for these 10 days and worship. Of these, the 10th day, on the star day of Thiruvonam, is celebrated as the festival of Thiruvonam.



Today, prople along with their families visited the famous Siddhapudur Iyappan Temple in Coimbatore on the occasion of Onam festival.



Devotees are not allowed to go to the temple due to Coronavirus infection and the devotees stood at the temple gate and worshipped.



The Onam festival is usually celebrated with flowers, dances and banquets along with relatives and friends. But now people are forced to celebrate at home, much to the disappointment of the people.
