Public Works department warn farmers who steal water from PAP drains

Farmers take water from the BAP drains in Pollachi without proper permissions.


Coimbatore: Water has been opened up through the primary water channel from Thirumoorthy Dam under the Parambikulam Azhiyaru irrigation scheme.

Complaints arose stating that farmers have laid water taps along the path and are selling it. PWD officials and revenue department officials inspected these channels in areas near Kedimedu.



Inspection done by Pollachi South Zone Deputy Tahsildar, Kolarpatti Land Revenue Inspector and PWD officials revealed that 6 trucks belonging to Supreme Water Service with a capacity of 12,000 litres, a small truck with a capacity of 4000 litres and two trucks belonging to Kannan Water Service with a capacity of 12,000 litres were utilized for the theft.

Public Works Department officials have warned farmers that improper sale of water is illegal and hence strict action will be taken against those involved in such activities and are taking steps to confiscate trucks involved in water theft.
