Corporation issues eviction notice to 275 houses; 70 houses encroaching Govt. land in Kurichikulam demolished

Notice for voluntarily vacating the encroached land was issued to 275 houses in Coimbatore, while 70 occupied houses were demolished by Corporation officials for having encroached Government land in Kurichikulam.


Coimbatore: Smart City project works worth Rs. 52 crore are being carried out in the Kurichikulam area, under the Coimbatore Corporation. Notice for voluntarily vacating the encroached land was issued to 275 houses in Coimbatore, while 70 occupied houses were demolished by Corporation officials for having encroached Government land in Kurichikulam.



Corporation officials said, 'With the Smart City project works underway in the Kurichikulam area, occupied houses in the area were removed. Of the 95 occupied houses in Sadham Nagar, 70 were demolished. The remaining 25 houses are due to be demolished next week. Similarly, notices have been issued to vacate 180 houses in Thiruvalluvar Nagar and 95 houses in Gandhi Nagar. They have been provided houses in areas including Keeranatham, Malumichampatti and Saravanampatti through the Slum Clearance Board. The houses where the notice was issued have been urged to vacate by August 27. Demolition work will resume on28th,' they added.
