The Tamil Development Department has announced August 31 as last day to receive nominations for awards from the Tamil Nadu Government
Coimbatore: On behalf of the Tamil Development Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu, applications are invited for the Thooya Tamil Oodagam Award, Narthamil Pavalar Award, Thooya Tamil Patralar Award, Devanaya Pawanar and Veeramamunivar Awards. These awards include certificates and cash prizes. Those wishing to be eligible to receive the award must attach the credentials and apply by August 31. The Narthamil Pavalar Award is given to inspire the creators of pure Tamil poetry and two poets are usuallynominated for this award. The Thooya Tamil Oodagam Award is to be given to three distinguished Tamil devotees who use pure Tamil in practical life as well. The Devanayap Bhavanar Award is given to a lexicographer and the Veerama Munivar Award is given to a deserving person who has published the best Tamil works which are not native to Tamil. The award carries a gold medal of one sovereign of gold and a prize of Rs.1 lakh.
