Water almost reaches the brim in Parambikulam Dam

Parambikulam Dam, one of the pride of the Western Ghats region is almost full causing farmers in the region to rejoice.

Coimbatore: Parambikulam Dam, one of the pride of the Western Ghats region is almost full causing farmers in the region to rejoice.

Water flow has been regular in the PAP dams as the rains were continuous in the western ghats. As a result of this, the water level in the 72-feet Parambikulam Dam has risen. The water level increased at a rate of 3000 cubic feet per second last week.

Water supply from the Sholayar Dam ensured that the Parambikulam Dam had enough water in it, as rainfall was comparatively low in the last few days.

As of Wednesday, the flow of water to the dam was 1,900 cubic feet, but the Thirumoorthy Dam has continued to release water through The Contour Canal at the rate of 1,000 cubic feet per second for irrigation purposes.

The water level is reportedly at 68 feet now in Parambikulam. The farmers around the area are elated as the water level is expected to increase filling the dam full to the brim.
