First dose of coronavirus vaccine has been administered to 60% of Coimbatore people
Coimbatore: Health department has said that in Coimbatore, first dose of coronavirus vaccine has been administered to 60 percent of people. The first dose of coronavirus vaccination for health workers was launched in Coimbatore last January. Coronavirus vaccine has been available to the general public since April and they eagerly came forward to get vaccinated.
However, due to the continuing shortage of vaccines, special camps are not conducted from time to time in the Corporation and rural areas. In the Coimbatore district, the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine has been given to 60 percent of people.
Health department official said, 'Total population of Coimbatore district is 38 lakhs. Of these, 27 lakh are over 18 years of age and the first installment of the coronavirus vaccine has been given to 16 lakh 26 thousand people. This is 60 percent of the population of Coimbatore district. Both doses of vaccines have been given to 3 lakh 83 thousand people hence in Coimbatore district, two doses of vaccines have been given to 14.18 per cent people. With 60 percent of people getting the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, major impact due to the coronavirus 3rd wave will be avoided.'
