Man who married and lived with a 16-year old girl in Pollachi has been arrested by Pollachi All Women's Police Station Inspector under POCSO Act
Coimbatore: Pollachi All Women's Police Station Inspector arrested a man who reportedly fell in love with a minor girl and married her in Pollachi. He was taken into custody under the POCSO Act.
"A 16-year old girl who had been staying in an orphanage in Pollachi, Coimbatore district was found living in a house since the Coronavirus lockdown. We received a tip off that a man named Vijayakumar had married the girl and was living with her in the house. The Pollachi All Women's Police Station Inspector Kopperundevi discovered that the man had married and was living with a minor girl. Accordingly, a case was registered against him under the POCSO Act and he was imprisoned."
