Cattle owners fined for allowing their cattle roam on Valparai road

Cattle owners warned and fined by Valparai Municipality Commissioner for allowing cattle freely roam on Valparai road

Coimbatore: Since the Coimbatore-Valparai route is a single lane road, even parking of two-wheelers and four-wheelers on the roadside causes occasional traffic jams.

Some of the residents in Valparai have been allowing their cattle to graze in Valparai's residential areas due to which the cattle end up freely roaming on the main road. Sometimes these cattle are seen standing in the middle of the roads and even end up sleeping on the roads which hinders traffic and also often cause an occasional risk to the public.

Thus, on the orders of the Valparai Municipality Commissioner, Suresh Kumar, the cows roaming on the road have been herded by the municipality employees and kept in a cow shed. The owners of the cows were notified and have been fined after which the cattle were returned to their owners. The Municipality Commissioner also warned the owners of the cattle that if the cows were seen roaming around the road again, they would be sent to the Gomatha Centre in Coimbatore.
