Coimbatore: Temple Trust officials recovered Rs. 6 crore worth of land belonging to the Amman temple near Coimbatore which had been used as a privately-owned brick kiln.

The land belonging to the Angalamman and Mariamman temples in the Thadagam area had been encroached.

Hindu Temple officials discovered about the encroachment and as a follow-up, investigating officers had issued notices to Rangaraj and Thennarasu, both from the same area who had occupied the temple land and run a brick kiln for the past two months.



Authorities demolished the brick kiln and reclaimed 8.8 acres of temple land worth Rs. 6 crore, since the encroachers refused to clear out.

Authorities demolished both the brick kiln and the brick-drying area erected on the temple grounds. Later, the authorities put up a notice board stating that the recovered land now belonged to the Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs. Public living in the area are relieved and glad that the temple land which has been occupied by the brick kiln operators for a long time had finally been reclaimed.
