Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Siddique Mettupalayam has said that the insurance scheme will be extended to all private hospitals in the Coimbatore district to face the 3rd wave.
Siddique IAS, Commissioner of Commerce, Coimbatore Monitoring Officer and Principal Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu conducted a surprise inspection at the Mettupalayam Government Hospital in Coimbatore today. During the study he asked the hospital doctors about the steps taken to deal with the 3rd wave.
Later, he inquired about the oxygen supply and necessary facilities at the government hospital. Later, he told reporters that 6,92,249 families in Coimbatore district have the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Insurance Card. 48 permanent and 64 temporary hospitals are registered to provide treatment under the insurance scheme to provide free coronavirus treatment to the insurance card holders.
He said the hospitals were ready to provide treatment under the Chief Minister's comprehensive insurance scheme and those wishing to seek coronavirus treatment in private hospitals would contact the toll free number 1800 425 3993 to inquire about vacancies in the hospitals and arrange for treatment. He also said that about Rs 21 crore has been provided to private hospitals to treat 1874 coronavirus patients during the last coronavirus 2nd wave.
Also, when asked by reporters if the 3rd wave would hit children more, Siddiqui said the delta virus was the same as it was during the last Coronavirus 2 wave. He said there was no transformation and thus there was no need to be afraid and the public needed to be even more extra vigilant.
Chandra, Deputy Director, Department of Health, Aruna, Deputy Director, Karamadai Regional Medical Officer, Sudhakar, Superintendent of Health, Shanmugasundaram, Chief Medical Officer, Mettupalayam Government Hospital, Kannan, Tahsildhar Sharmila, Municipality Commissioner, Vinod, Engineer, Kavitha, Health Inspector, Senthilkumar and many other government officials were present during the inspection.
