544 people benefit on first day of CM's 'Doorstep Healthcare' scheme in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: Health officials in Coimbatore stated that 544 people have benefited from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin's 'Doorstep Healthcare' scheme.

Under this scheme, medicines and healthcare are directly provided to the elderly, the disabled and those with co-morbidities. In Coimbatore, 544 people benefited on the first day of the project.

District Patient Monitoring Officers stated that the Doortstep Healthcare scheme operates in three ways - home delivery of medicines, physiotherapy treatment and home treatment of patients who are unable to go directly to the hospital. "90 female health officers have been appointed for this purpose. The plan is to prevent the elderly from having difficulty coming to the hospital. Steps have been taken to expand the scheme to various areas," they added.
