Following Covid-19, the curfew was lifted and the price of gold continued to rise, despite the absence of jewelry sales. The rise in investments in gold in the global market was attributed to the rise in prices.

The last two months have seen fluctuations in the price of one sovereign gold from Rs. 38,0000 to Rs. 37,000. The price of gold has started to fall over the last few days. Price dropped by Rs 624 in a single day yesterday. One sovereign of gold was sold for Rs. 36,192.

Coimbatore Gold Jewellery Manufacturers Association president Muthu Venkatram said, 'The US dollar has appreciated, which has led to an increase in investments in securities against the US currency. Those who want to invest can now take advantage of the declining prices.'
