Need more light at the Gandhipuram bus stand entrance - public demand

Coimbatore: The public has demanded that a street light be installed at the entrance of the Gandhipuram Town bus stand.

Coimbatore: The public has demanded that a street light be installed at the entrance of the Gandhipuram Town bus stand.

There are 3 major bus stands in the Coimbatore Gandhipuram area. Notable among them are Coimbatore Town Bus Stand, Central and Thiruvalluvar Bus Stand.

Apart from the Town bus stand, there are two other bus stands for commuters. Those who can come to Coimbatore from the suburbs at the Town bus stand will come to various places in Coimbatore.

So the Town Bus Station is always crowded. Last week, the Tamil Nadu government announced that shops would only be open until 5 pm due to corona.

Following this, all the shops around the Coimbatore Gandhipuram bus stand will be closed at 5 pm. Due to this, the passengers who come to the Town bus stand and go to various places in Coimbatore face darkness as lights from shops are not in use due to lockdown.

The reason is that there are no lights at the entrance of the Town bus station. Until this day only the lights of the shops at the entrance of the bus station were shining brightly.

In this situation, the elderly, the sick, government employees, who can come fast and board the town buses for the last 4 days, stumble and fall due to the lack of any lights at the bus stand gate.

Senior citizens and regular commuters have demanded that the corporation administration immediately intervene and set up roof lights at the entrance of the Town bus stand to help the public.
