Cell phone and money snatched by attacking North Indian youth in construction work near Palladam

Tirupur: Youth working in a construction site near Palladam has been attacked by a unidentified men and was snatched of his cell phones and extorted money from them.

More than 10 workers from Bihar are staying and working as construction labourers at Arulpuram Sedapalayam Road, Sekampalayam near Palladam in Tirupur district. It is said that an unidentified person came there this evening while the north-indian workers were on duty. They intimidated the workers there, snatched their cell phones and demanded money from the workers.

They also allegedly stole money and a cell phone, along with five other people who came and grabbed steel rods from the construction site and threw them on the road. Public gathered and tried to catch the attackers hearing the workers shout. One of them was captured and the other five escaped. Nishad, Jyoti and Sudhan, construction workers from Bihar, were injured in the attack. Palladam police rushed to the spot and the injured were rescued and admitted to the Palladam Government Hospital.

Also, locals captured a person from Palladam Kallampalayam and handed him over to the police. Following this, the police have taken the arrested person to the police station and are conducting a serious investigation. Commenting on the incident, RR Ravi, a social activist and union councillor from the area, said, “Over the past two months, unidentified individuals have been targeting pedestrians and two-wheelers riders on the road in Arulpuram area and stealing more than 20 two-wheelers and cell phones. If a complaint is lodged at the police station, the police will immediately file a case and take action to prevent any crime in the area."
