President to visit via Coimbatore to Delhi due to bad weather: Tight security arrangements in city


Coimbatore: President Ramnath Govind, who is on a week-long tour of Tamil Nadu, was scheduled to arrive in Sulur by helicopter from Ooty this morning and fly to Delhi by private plane from the Air Force base.

The President is instead coming to Coimbatore by road due to bad weather and weather conditions in Ooty.

President Ramnath Govind arrived in Chennai on the 2nd to participate in various events in Tamil Nadu. That evening, on the occasion of the centenary of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, DMK leader inaugurated the portrait of Kalaignar Karunanidhi and addressed the assembly. Following that he came to the Sulur Air Force Base and participated in the event held there. It was followed by a stay at the Wellington Center and return to Delhi this morning to attend various events.

The helicopter was ready at the Wellington ground, the Ooty Army Training Center as he came to Coimbatore by land due to bad weather and climatic conditions. He is scheduled to arrive at the Air Force base in Sulur and fly to Delhi by private plane from there.



Tight police security arrangements have been made from Sulur to Ooty as he is suddenly coming by road. When asked about this, the Coimbatore police officer, "His car is coming towards Coimbatore very slowly. He mentioned that the time he leaves for Delhi will be known after he reaches Sulur."
