Coimbatore: Vivekanandasamy, the owner of a furniture shop was travelling from Pollachi to Coimbatore on a two-wheeler on Wednesday night when he fell from his two-wheeler, sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.

Vivekanandasamy (51) was from Makkinampatti near Pollachi in Coimbatore district and made a living out of selling furniture at a shop on Pollachi-Palakkad Road. His wife, Rajeswari, works in the public sector. Vivekanandasamy was traveling from Pollachi to Coimbatore on a two-wheeler and while passing the Kinathukadavu Arasampalayam section, he reportedly applied brakes to avoid colliding with a person who ran across the road. The sudden impact caused Vivekanandasamy to fall from his two-wheeler and sustain serious head injuries.
Passers-by rescued Vivekanandasamy and rushed him to Coimbatore Government Hospital by 108 ambulance. Vivekanandasamy succumbed to his grievous head injuries on Thursday morning even after being moved to a private hospital in Coimbatore for further treatment. Vivekanandasamy's wife Rajeswari has filed a case with the Kinathukkadavu police station and police officials are investigating the case.
