Auto driver commits suicide due to debt harassment in Gandhipuram in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Coimbatore: An auto driver ended his life by hanging himself from a tree due to debt harqassment, in the Gandhipuram area of Coimbatore.
At around 5 am on Monday morning, a man was found hanging from a tree in the Gandhipuram area. Passers-by in the area informed the Kattoor police station about the suicide, following which the police rushed to the spot and recovered his body. The man was reportedly wearing a khaki colour uniform and his identity card identified him as Ananthakumar, an auto driver in the city.
The police found a letter in the pocket of his trousers which stated that he was ending his life due to unmanageable stress on account of having lost his livelihood and harassment regarding increased debts. The police recovered the body and sent it to the Government Hospital for autopsy, and are continuing their investigation.
