Forest department issues guidelines to public as elephant movement is on the rise in Coimbatore and surroundings

Advice to public living to forest areas, people and farmers living in the above areas and people who make a living from brick kiln in Yaanaikal Area under Madukkarai Wildlife Sanctuary, In Coimbatore Mangarai, Labours colony area, Polampatti, Pattiyar Kovil Pathy, Ichikkuzhi under the forest of Mettupalayam, Pattupoochi thootam, Kaalan company division area must be very careful and should not go out in the early hours of morning and at night.

Forest department has asked to

- Avoid traveling on two-wheelers at night.

- Workers working in brick kilns in Thadagam areas avoid sleeping outside the house at night.

- Avoid going outside in areas where elephants roam, especially at night if you hear that elephants are in the area.

- Carry torches with you when going out at night.

- Avoid wandering in the paths of wild elephants.

The Coimbatore District Forest Department is also requesting the public to inform the nearby forest officers if there is any elephant movement in their area.
