Deputy Commissioner Senthilkumar consults with vehicle owners and drivers in Coimbatore to prevent road accidents and ensure road safety


Coimbatore: In Coimbatore, a consultative meeting was held on behalf of the Coimbatore City Police on behalf of the Coimbatore City Police to invite all lorry owners and drivers, tempo owners and drivers, auto drivers and call taxi drivers in a concerted move to avoid accidents, avoid congestion and respect the rules of the road.



A consultation program was organized at the Police Community Hall in the Uppilipalayam area of Coimbatore, ahead of the Road Safety Week with the participation of only drivers and the police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Senthilkumar presided over the meeting which was attended by lorry, taxi, auto drivers and its Union officials. Four regional officials including regional transport RTOs Baskaran, Saravanan, Kumaravel and Sivagurunathan were present at the meeting.



With work continuing on flyovers in Coimbatore, numerous accidents had taken place due to violation of traffic rules mentioned by the police. The drivers were advised to follow the rules of the road and told that action will be taken to stop vehicles that are over the speed limit. Mini truck drivers were told not to over speed while transporting vegetables in the early hours of the morning. Auto drivers were urged to obey the rules of the road in view of the congestion. The traffic police officials reiterated that all drivers should respect the rules of the road and drive realising that traffic congestions are due to the flyovers construction work.



The drivers also complained that they were being fined unnecessarily and were assured that good relations would continue on both sides and are to be maintained with cooperation from both sides.
