50 sovereigns of jewellery, silk and silver items robbed at Indian Oil company manager's house adding to the increasing number of burglaries in Coimbatore after lockdown restrictions have been eased.
Coimbatore: Incidents of burglary are on the rise in Coimbatore city and across the district after curfew restrictions have been eased. Thefts are being reported in at least four homes per week leading to night patrols being intensified by the police.
Nevertheless, incidents of burglaries and looting in Coimbatore have not stopped. Prakash (45) is from Karupparayan Palayam, Ramasamy Nagar in Peelamedu, Coimbatore and works as a manager at Indian Oil in Peelamedu. He left town two days ago and on returning home on thursday, he was shocked to find the front door of his house broken down and the wardrobe in disarray.
Prakash discovered that 50 sovereign of jewellery, silk and silver items had been stolen from the locker area of his wardrobe. He lodged a complaint at the Peelamedu police station and police arrived at the scene with sniffer dogs and are conducting a thorough investigation of the burglary. In addition, fingerprint experts have been called to the scene.
Fingerprints have been examined and samples have been sent for analysis. The Peelamedu police have sent out images of the burglars who may have broken into the house to the police on night patrol andhigher police officials have ordered a vigilant search to nab the burglars.
