Sholayar Dam reaches its full capacity of 165 ft. due to heavy rains in Valparai

Coimbatore: Sholayar Dam next to Valparai was opened at 8 am on Saturday due to the intensification of the southwest monsoon in the Valparai area.


Coimbatore: Sholayar Dam next to Valparai was opened at 8 am on Saturday due to the intensification of the southwest monsoon in the Valparai area.

Rivers in the area are flooded and the daily catchment of the Sholayar Dam rising by 5 ft. daily.



The Sholayar Dam reached its full capacity of 165 ft. on Saturday due to the heavy rains that pounded the region on Friday night, and the water level had reached 159 ft on Friday morning.

After warning the public in the area, three dams were opened to prevent flooding.
