In a press release issued by the Coimbatore Social Security Scheme Assistant Commissioner of Labour, Thirugnanasambantham, it was stated that "Some construction workers registered with the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers' Welfare Board had died of Coronavirus infection. This had left the future and livelihood of their children uncertain.
Thus, the Government is taking various measures to expand welfare assistance to those children. Accordingly, details are collected from registered construction workers about children who have lost one of their parents or both mother and father due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the details of the children who have lost their parents can be reported to the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Labour (Social Security Scheme) operating behind the Ramanathapuram Mahindra showroom on the Coimbatore-Trichy road."
