Forest department officials arrest four men who were trying to cut down a sandalwood tree in the Naickenpalayam forest area in Coimbatore district and imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 each.
Coimbatore: Forest Department officials who were on intensive patrol in the Kattanchi Hill forest area in Coimbatore district spotted four men attempting to cut down a sandalwood tree in the wee hours of the morning. The men were caught red-handed and slapped a fine of Rs.10,000 on each of them.
Forest officials who saw light coming from the Naickenpalayam forest area at around 2 am rushed to the spot to find the men trying to cut down sandalwood trees. The men have been arrested and were identified as Moideen, Murali, Jagadish and Rajendran hailing from Mannarkadu.
