All party executives petition Tirupur District Collector to stop collection of compulsory fees for students studying Class 11 in Government schools

Coimbatore: More than 2000 students study at the Veerapandi Government High School, under Tirupur Corporation. Compulsory fees of Rs. 1,800 for Tamil medium education and Rs. 2,300 for English medium education are being charged for admission to Class 11 in this school.

Many parents have lost their livelihoods due to Covid lockdowns and are struggling to make ends meet. Hence, all party executives from the Veerapandi area have filed a petition at the District Collector's Office urging the district administration and the school education department to initiate action to stop collection of school fees for Class 11 since it could hinder less privileged students' education.
