Man found dead in lodge


"Shaji Joseph (46), a businessman from Kochi, was found dead in a lodge near Race Course on Sunday.

The polices said that his room was closed for a long time on Sunday morning and the lodge staff tried calling his mobile phone but could not reach him.

They informed the police who broke open the room’s door and found him dead in a pool of blood in the bathroom.

The police said that he had cuts on both his wrists and suspected that he could have cut them to commit suicide, and died due to heavy loss of blood.

His body was taken to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The police informed about his death to the numbers in his mobile phone.

Two arrested:

The Karamadai police arrested two men on Saturday night when they tried to escape with a gold chain they robbed from a woman at knife point.

The police sources said that the victim, M. Mayilammal (60), was sitting in front of her house around 9 p.m. when P. Vignesh Kumar (33) and R. Sharma Kumar (31) threatened her with a knife and robbed her of her two-sovereign gold chain.

Hearing her cry for help, people there caught the two men and handed them over to the police."
